Distribution:

southeast Canada and the United States (from Newfoundland and Maine south to Pennsylvania and west to Michigan, northeastern Illinois and Wisconsin)

Wingspan:

in between 7 and 9,5 cm. 

Season:

only one flight in between May and July

Food plants:

best on Betulus or Alnus. Also reported on Vaccinium, wild roses, Larix and Picea glauca

Rearing:

Very easy, suitable for newcomers. Keep early stages in well ventilated plastic containers and move to a netted cage when older.. Fast growing and ready to pupate in less then  four weeks. Keep the pupae in the fridge to overwinter.
