Distribution:

South America, however recently divided into several different species, which makes the exact distribution more unclear. The moths depicted here are from Peru.

Robinia and other woody Fabaceae 

Rearing:

An easy species, suitable for newcomers. Keep warm, in well ventilated plastic containers. Caterpillars are gregarious, so overcrowding is rarely a risk. Keep dry and clean, do not spray and avoid condensation. Fast growing and ready to pupate within 4 to 5 weeks. The length of the pupal stage depends on your rearing conditions, but is usually in between 5 and 8 weeks. The pupae do not overwinter.
