In between 12 and 15 cm
in captivity more or less continuously
not as polyphage as B. alcinoe. Can be reared on Mahonia aquifolium (best) and Ligustrum ovalifolium
Difficult, not suitable for newcomers. Keep warm (25°C during the day or warmer), clean and dry. Rear in spacious, well ventilated plastic containers but try to avoid condensation. Ready to pupate in approximately 6 weeks (depending on temperature and quality of the food). Pupal stage is variable (from 4 weeks to several months). Warmer and more humid conditions trigger the moths to emerge.
