Distribution:

Central and the west of South America from Costa Rica and Panama to Peru

Wingspan:

between six and nine centimeters

Season:

more or less continuously when kept warm, but with long intervals between flights depending on the rearing conditions

Food plants:

polyphage on Quercus, Fagus, Carpinus, Betula, Alnus, Corylus, Robinia, Cassia, Senna, Rubus, Rosa, Crataegus, Malus, Prunus, Sorbus, Rhamnus and many more

Rearing:

Very easy, suitable for children. Keep in spacious, well ventilated plastic containers. Watch out for condensation and do not give wet leaves. Fast growing and ready to pupate in approximately  six to seven weeks . A living room temperature is enough. The pupal stage can be somewhat longer when the rearing circumstances are not favorable (up to 5 months).
