the north part of South America with records from French Guiana, Venezuela, Suriname, Guyana, northern Brasil and Ecuador. The animals depicted here are from French Guiana

Wingspan:

between six and half and nine centimeters

Season:

more or less continuously when kept warm, but with long intervals between flights

Rearing:

Very easy, suitable for children. Keep in spacious, well ventilated plastic containers. Watch out for condensation and do not give wet leaves. Fairly large caterpillars (up to 9 cm).  Fast growing and ready to pupate in approximately  six to seven weeks . A living room temperature is enough. The pupal stage can be somewhat longer when the rearing circumstances are not favorable (up to 3 months).
