Distribution:

Mexico (Sonora, Chihuahua and Durango)

Wingspan:

In between 4 and 5 cm

Season:

one flight (usually May/June, in captivity more irregular with moths merging between May and August, depending on local conditions). Pupae overwinter

Food plants:

Quercus preferred, alternatively also Castanea

Rearing:

An easy species, suitable for newcomers. Keep warm (minimum room temperature) and clean. Rear in spacious, well ventilated plastic containers. Avoid condensation. Fast growing. Ready to pupate within 4 to 5 weeks (depending on temperature and quality of the food). Pupae overwinter in a cool, unheated room (frost free) or in the fridge.
