Distribution:

south and eastern China, (north) Vietnam and Laos (The pictures are all from a brood originating from Phu Khun (Louang Prabang)).

Wingspan:

females around 8 cm, males smaller

Season:

in captivity continuously (when kept warm)

Food plants:

Pinus, including Pinus sylvestris

Rearing:

A fairly easy species when kept dry and warm. Caterpillars are relatively fast growing and pupate within 2 months at room temperature. Early stages can stay in well ventilated plastic containers, but the caterpillars need to be moved to netted cages once they are large enough. Tolerate company very well, even in the final instar.
