Acherontia

This is probably the best known genus within the hawk moth family. The death's-head hawkmoths occur in Eurasia and Africa. There are only 3 species. Two of them in Asia and one (atropos) in Europe, Asia and Africa. These are large hawk moths.

The rearing can be somewhat more challenging for both styx  and lachesis. In general when kept warm, clean and dry atropos should not give too much problems. The large and colorful caterpillars feed on Ligustrum (among others).
