Distribution:

South America, reported from Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Brasil and Bolivia

Wingspan:

around 15 cm

Season:

in captivity continuously when kept warm

Food plants:

Prunus and Ligustrum species. Prunus serotina and laurocerasus are well accepted.

Rearing:

Not difficult during the warmer part of the year, somewhat more difficult during winter months (probably due to lesser quality of food). Keep in well ventilated plastic containers. Older caterpillars can be kept in large plastic tubs or netted cages. Watch out for condensation when kept in plastic containers and do not give wet leaves. Fast growing and ready to pupate in approximately  six weeks. The pupal stage usually isn't very  long (approximately one month at living room temperature).

None as long as the quality of the food is good
