Distribution:

eastern part of North America from Canada (southern Ontario) to Texas, Louisiana and Florida

Wingspan:

In between 4 and 6 cm

Season:

one to three flights annually (usually in between April and September, depending on local conditions). Pupae overwinter

Food plants:

Quercus preferred, alternatively also Castanea and Corylus

Rearing:

Easy, especially spring flights. Keep warm (minimum room temperature) and clean. Rear in spacious, well ventilated plastic containers. Avoid condensation. Fast growing. Ready to pupate within 4 to 5 weeks (depending on temperature and quality of the food, in autumn slower). Pupae overwinter in the fridge
