China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Bhutan, Korea, Russia and Japan

Wingspan:

6 to 10 centimeter

Season:

one flight per year from September to October. Eggs overwinter in the fridge.

Food plants:

Corylus, Quercus, Fagus, Carpinus, Alnus, Betula

Rearing:

Eggs overwinter in the fridge until April. Caterpillars need approximately 3 months of growth. The pupal stage is short (less then 3 weeks). Keep in well ventilated plastic containers. When kept dry it is not absolutely necessary to move them to a netted cage, even though preferred when rearing a larger group.
