Apatelodes

The Apatelodes are the largest genus within the American silkmoth family (Apatelodidae). The approximately 100 species occur from the (southern) United States throughout Central America into the largest part of South America. The moths are small sized and dull colored, but the hairy caterpillars are usually quite attractive.

If you want to rear something other people have not done yet, you have plenty of species to choose from within this genus. Only from very few Apatelodes are the caterpillars known and/or extensively documented. So here's your chance to do some real discoveries. And please send me some offspring. Hundred Apatelodes species and only one on this website. It's not something that makes me very proud.
